The National ICT Industry Alliance, NICTIA, has membership that represents a wide cross section of the Australian information and communications technology industry. NICTIA provides a ‘clearing house’ where organisations representing the interests of industry, ICT professionals and public R&D institutions can meet to exchange views and discuss initiatives to advance promotion and development of ICT in Australia. Australia’s economic prosperity over the last decade, and for the foreseeable future, is critically dependent on productivity gains underpinned by innovation in information and communications technologies (ICTs). The two ‘sweet spots’ on the innovation continuum are, first, where the community makes innovative use of existing ICT and, second, where the ICT industry creates innovative technology. |

National Cyber Security Awareness Week |

The sixth of June marks the beginning of the National Cyber Security Awareness Week—an Australian Government initiative, implemented in partnership with business organisations like ours, industry, community groups, consumers and state and territory governments. |

On 9 December 2009 Philip Argy, Immediate Past President of the Australian Computer Society, was declared elected Chairman of the National ICT Industry Alliance (NICTIA) for 2010/11. In submitting himself to the members Mr Argy noted his passionate belief in ICT as the enabler of innovation, wealth and prosperity. He has expressed those views enthusiastically and frequently! |
